Review: The Food of Spain

Far more than a cookbook, this volume will transport you to Spain from your kitchen, or maybe just from your armchair.  The author explores Spain’s food through its history and rich cultural influences.  The recipes are easy to understand and many (but not all) ingredients should be easy to find.  The author does offer alternatives for some items.  The food photographs are so sumptuous I could almost smell the dishes!  To enhance the reader’s appreciation of Spain, there are also many lovely photographs of the landscape and architecture.  This book is a treasure trove of pleasure for readers and cooks interested in a regional cookbook with lots of background.
