Writing, at its best, is a lonely life.
~Ernest Hemingway.
Many authors have lamented the isolated nature of writing. Many have also touted the benefit of meeting with others who practice the craft, both in terms of companionship and opportunities to improve one’s work. If you are one of the lonely, hunched over a keyboard or journal, please join us on Saturday, November 12 at the Columbia Public Library for some company and instruction!
Novelist Keija Parssinen, director of Columbia’s Quarry Heights Writers’ Workshop, will lead a program for adult writers of all experience levels. You’ll have the opportunity to think about, discuss and practice craft elements relating to structure, language and character. Please call 573-443-3161 to register.
Parssinen is a novelist, poet and a teacher of fiction writing. She graduated from Princeton University and received an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her first novel, “The Ruins of Us,” is scheduled for publication in January of 2012.

What time is this on Saturday and where in the Library?
The workshop is from 10 am to 11:30 am in the Virginia Young Room (second floor).
