Feed Your Book Habit at Friends of the Library Sales

Shoppers buy books at the Columbia Friends of the Library book saleOne of my favorite questions to answer at the reference desk is, “How many books am I allowed to check out?” I love seeing the delight on a person’s face when I respond, “As many as you can carry – there’s no limit!” Of course, many library users are also book buyers, and our Friends book sales are a great way for readers to inexpensively fill their shelves with titles they don’t have to return! Most books are $1 or less. All proceeds directly fund library services, so buyers can feel good about shopping for a good cause.

This weekend (March 17-18), the Columbia Friends hold their huge annual spring sale at the Columbia Public Library. The Friends of the Callaway County Public Library hold their next sale in Fulton the weekend of March 31. And the Friends of the Southern Boone County Public Library have a book sale room, so you can browse and make a purchase any time the library in Ashland is open.

For you crafty folks, used books aren’t just for reading. Altered books make gorgeous works of art or funky and functional purses or cases for gadgets.

We hope you’ll join us at an upcoming sale and feed your book habit while supporting library services!
