April celebrates poetry
For Arbor Day come get a tree
The 22nd is Earth Day
Verse and nature oft interplay
Joyce Kilmer wrote a poem of trees
Mary Oliver wrote of geese
Langston Hughes loved rain in April
William Wordsworth loved daffodils
But “Can Poetry Save the Earth?”
“Birds, Beasts and Seas” all have great worth
Will work to save the beauty we see
For a further celebration of poetry, please join us at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7 at the Columbia Public Library, when former Missouri Poet Laureate Walter Bargen will read from a selection of his work. And at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, younger poets will be honored at the Callaway Youth Poetry Awards Ceremony, to be held at the Callaway County Public Library.

Love to see your commitment to poetry!
Poetry has many, many fans here at the library. Thank you for your comment!
