Santa Brought You an E-reader! Now What?

e-readerCongratulations! You finally hold in your hands that shiny new Nook or Kindle Fire you’ve had your eye on for months. Or perhaps a thoughtful spouse or child decided you really, really needed a tablet computer and a slew of apps. Either way, you are ready to borrow eBooks from your friendly neighborhood library. Where to begin?

First, make sure you have an active library card and live in our service area. Then, visit the library’s website for an overview of the service.

Next, use our Quick Start Guide to see the instructions for your particular device. Whether you have a basic e-reader or a smartphone, we have step-by-step instructions for accessing eBooks through your library.

You might be thinking, “Can’t somebody just show me how to use this thing?” Well, yes! We teach a “Checking Out Library eBooks” class on a regular basis at the Columbia Public Library, so take a look at our online program calendar for class dates and registration details.

Finally, if you have additional questions or encounter difficulties downloading a book, contact the library for assistance. Happy reading!
